Client and The System
The client is an Austrian ISP (Internet Service Provider) who provides one stop services from domain registration, to website hosting & construction. Its CMS system enables its users to DIY their own websites. The original system is built on ASP and needs to upgrade to ASP.Net. Before Freelancerchina, the client has been cooperating with a Philippine team for a year. Because of quality and delay, the client decides to look for a new offshore development partner. After evaluation, we reuse as much original code as we can to save more for the client and to keep the new system robust at the same time.
Cost-efficient team structure
This cooperation adopts MINI ODC which involves 1 free consultant + 1 lead developer + 2 developers. Lead developer develops core modules and pay attention to the business value of the system. According to the client's business requirement, a developer good at front end UI and another good at backend system are picked to be the team members. On one hand, this team structure meets the client's development request. On the other hand, it saves the cost mostly.
Near Agile methodology
Short iteration, frequent demo and other common approaches are adopted in this project. Lead developer is familiar with Agile methodology. Other team members don't communicate with the client. But the team has a lot of internal communication every day. The client can get all useful information by talking to lead developer and check Project Management System on internet. This helps the client saving time on communication.
Refund
In the term of guarantee clause of Mini ODC, cost of the second iteration is waived because client isn't quite satisfied with our work. But both the client and freelancerchina believe that it can only benefit our long term cooperation by higher productivity and quality. Soon after that, a six month contract is signed by the client and Freelancerchina. This project is becoming one of the most robust ODC projects in Freelancerchina.
