Project Description:
I am a web developer with 11 years experience. My expertise lies in design, usability, and client interaction. I hire out all programming matters. I am looking for a programmer to with whom to partner for a project proposal. The client sells her own books and literature online. She does not want to conduct online transaction processing at this time, but wants to design an ordering system that will take orders now and then allow for e-commerce functionality later. Project can be in ASP or PHP. ORDERING SYSTEM Since there are only about 20 items (and will probably not be many more), there is no need to design a large db with categories and subcats. There will be static HTML pages for each item and a BUY NOW button that can have appropriate code to place the item in the cart and a quantity. When customer hits BUY NOW button, they will be taken to a page where they will enter their contact info. No CC information will be collected at this time. But need to have ability to collect it here in the future. Also on this page will be an explanation of this “non-standard” ordering process (they will contact the customer by phone to verify order and take CC info). There will need to be a shopping cart that can track multiple items purchased. Shipping will be a flat 10% of the order total. 8% sales tax will need to be collected from people ordering from the state of Alabama only. Here’s the tricky part. There are some books that can be mixed and matched at a discount. So if a customer orders, for example, 4 books from this selected list, the cart should automatically know that a discount applies and reduces the price accordingly. There should also be an administrative “dashboard” that gives the owner a bird’s eye view of the business. There will be a list of current products and pulls from the db for how many of each sold today, this month, this year and revenue totals for today, this month, this year. Should also be able to search orders by name, date, state, etc to find an order when needed. There should also be a “to do list” on the dashboard that lists the orders that have been submitted but not processed. Admin should be able to log in and mark an order as “processed” once payment has been received. When the order is marked processed, an e-mail should be sent to the fulfillment center noting the items in the order and the shipping address and type (ground, 2 day, overnight, etc). FULFILLMENT SYSTEM This should be a separate proposal from the Ordering System above. The client may not add this module yet. But if the price is right, she will. The Fulfillment System will be for the group that is filling the orders for these products. They should log in and see a “to do list” which contains orders that have been marked processed but not marked shipped. They use UPS exclusively for shipping. If there is a way to integrate directly with UPS from this system to print a shipping label and get tracking information, that would be excellent. If not, no problem. Fulfillment group should be able to see and print a packing list with order info. They should then be able to enter the UPS tracking number and then mark the order as “Shipped.” When the order is marked shipped, the customer should receive an e-mail from the system automatically that includes the date of shipping and the tracking number. Note, that the last item in the Ordering System above that sends an e-mail to the Fulfillment team informing them of a new order will not be used if the client decides to purchase this fulfillment system, as this would be redundant. |
