| Project Description:
This will be a new website for an investors association. No e-commerce is involved. We will provide a complete site plan, detailing all content, approximate layout of all pages and list of all functions. We may be able to provide some scripts or utility items and will also provide all graphics. The site is divided into three major areas. The FRONT is the public site, open to all. The BACK is a secure private area, always in SSL, open only to members by log-in. The ADMIN area is our control panel. The FRONT (PUBLIC) AREA Home page will provide written news articles which will change frequently. It will also have the following: Links to past news articles, archive. Links to investor educational section. Links to yet undefined content areas. Link to membership information area. Stock quote line ( a plug-in utility). Home Page also has- Column of ads on one side, which finances our site. Possible bar ad across bottom of page. The usual links for about, contact, etc. There will be a membership application link in the public area which will go to an SSl area with information, instructions and a form submission. There will also be a public data section which will display some summary information about our membership activities, which will obtain it's content from the members database in the private area. Total front section will probably cover 10-20 pages. Much of this will be text which we will insert in a template. The BACK (PRIVATE) AREA This area provides a variety of information and services to members. It will need to be database driven throughout. While our database will tell us a great deal about each member, the members will know each other by screen names only, and no personal identity information will be available between members. The content includes: The Member Application area. This is accessed from the front area application link and is where potential new members will make out an application. This area is isolated and will not allow any access beyond in the private section. Applications are forwarded to us for review. If accepted, the member will receive an invitation, user ID and temporary password. In this step, the IP address of the sending computer is captured, and if it is identical to the address of any existing member, a flag is added. The Member Profile. This consists of both a profile creation section and a search/view section. When first joining, each member will be completing a questionaire of perhaps 30 items which will become part of record. Other members will be able to browse search and view selected parts of the membership list. The view will show a portion of the record data, but not all. When new members first log in, they are limited to certain areas which must be completed before they can access the balance of the site. Note that ther will be some kind of ranking values for members. Some of these points will be determined by profile information, one by activity and contribution, and one by other members voting to say thanks for an article, tip or assistance. Thus the structure must include a way to collect and handle that data. Member profile views will show this, it helps others when they are looking for help of a particular kind. The Member Portfolio entry. Each member will be reporting which stocks they have purchased and sold and values. This will be used to provide a composite portfolio that will display the total of all member investments as a single function, reflecting the group performance. Note that this section will probably use calls to other sites to collect current stock price data, which is easy to do via available utility scripts. It will have a number of calculated fields. The Research Section. Members investigating a potential investment will post a research notice informing others, which is keyed by the trading symbol of the stock. Others may add to the posting so it may acquire many entries over time. Research posts can be searched or selected from a list of symbols. The Chat Room. Our chat room will be open at all times to all members, but will primarily be used for scheduled presentations which any member can do. There will be a calendar schedule at the chat entry which lists the date/times, topic, presenting member name for the event. The Investors Forum. This will probably be a typical forum utility, but a good program, which we will provide. However it will be customized to this application and the programmer should be familiar with that process. Contact mail. In some way, we want any member to be able to email another member through the site, without personal email addresses being exposed. There will be other areas, however they will be basic information or article space, not interactive. These may be articles contributed by members, for example. The ADMIN area. The admin section will do all the usual functions in managing the forms and functions of the database and membership. It will also allow tracking/loggin of activity by each member. This will include the date time of visit, the IP of that connection, page visits and any interactions which alter the database. GENERAL: This site will be no more than self-supporting through front page ads; membership is free to qualified investors. Initial costs are being contributed by the founding investors who recognize the value potential of such an association. This will be a talent-pool. All investors must contribute, all gain in return. The site combines the skills, research and knowledge of many investors to provide a resouce for all. There are no common investments or merged money, all members continue to manage their own investments individually. Security is important for a variety of reasons. There are many ways to manipulate investments, and the integrity of the group is critical to keeping those who would do that out of the site. The structure must provide a high level of protection. The chosen developer will do the complete install on our server, making the site fully functional on completion. We will provide all the support we can in terms of guidance, utilities, graphics and other detail. While we will show developers clearly what we want, we also realize that talented developers may have better ideas, and we wish to encourage the most creative ones to consider the project. We intend this to be a first-class and professional site both in appearance and functionality for members. The description here is close, but one should not assume that it includes all aspects of the final site. The time frame is open; doing it right is the first priority. The price is also open. We will probably review initial responses and determine what is practical from the questions and suggestions we receive. We expect integrity, skill, honest communication and quality work from the party hired, and we want this site to be a source of pride for the developer who creates it. Less than that will not be acceptable. We will of course be happy to provide any information requested that we can to assist you in considering this project. Note that we have never used FreelancerChina before, and may not be familiar with all the procedures. Thank you! Newly added descriptions: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 1- We do want to see examples of sites you have created. If you submit a bid, include links to your work. These should include sites in english. 2- This site will be used almost exclusively by english speaking members, typically US residents. It must be programmed in flawless english. If you are unable to do that, do not bid. 3- The site maintenance issue is important. We expect to see tools to update and modify content specifically and globally, to minimize our daily modification and maintenance time. 12/10/07 IMPORTANT!! THE ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION IS VOID. A NEW AND MUCH MORE DETAILED DESCRIPTION COMPLETE WITH ILLUSTRATIONS IS INCLUDED IN A ZIP FILE ATTACHMENT ADDED TODAY. EXISTING BIDS WILL BE IGNORED. EXAMINE THE ATTACHMENT DOCUMENTS. |
