Project Description:
We need to develop a solution to be able to keep track of some key performance counters for the SQL Server 2005 and particularly one sol server 2005 database. What we are looking for is a simple system where we have a SQL Server 2005 on an external site that we can connect to and perform some DBCC and backup activities. Only one database on the whole server is the one that needs to be monitored with more details. What we are thinking is to create some stored procedures or use what SQL Server 2005 has built in, to get counts of tables (number or rows, size, growth etc). We would prefer to create a new database called Auditing or similar to that that would hold the entire SP that we need to use, and would also hold all the data that we collect. the Stored Procedures (SP??) should be dynamically built so that it doesn't matter how many tables we have. We would run SP?? once a week so for a monthly report that we need to deliver to a client we need to get few figures. We would most likely do a backup of that database and copy it out to the local server every month. We want to have either MS Access or Excel being linked to the local version of the database it and than being able to pull a report with a few click of a button. We need to produce a graph showing that (for example table 1 had 100 records, and than after one month there is let say 120 records. We would report that table 1 had an extra 20 rows which represent 20% increase in the usage, etc. I am open to a suggestion and would like to get a brief description of your proposed solution. Suggestions on what to record and how to do data entry would be part of the process. I need a developer that is familiar with MS Access and Excel and what is really good with SQL Server 2005. If you are interested please respond and answer to the following questions: - Do you work alone or do you have a team - How much will you be online each day - You have good command of the English language Please send your: - Proposed solution - Items to be monitored for the SQL Server 2005 Thank you |
