Project Description:
We are a newly opened business college. We would like use web based enrollment system. User Requirements There are 2 main Users for the system: -Staff and -Students Newly added descriptions: Please note this is not a complicated project but should be able to perform the requirements listed below. User Requirements There are 2 main Users for the system: Staff ? The user interface for staff should be web based. ? Staff should be authenticated with username and password. ? Once logged in, staff can: o View a list of all available subjects. o Add subjects (subject number, subject name, subject description, prerequisite subjects if any) o Edit subjects. That is, they can change the name, description and prerequisites. They don’t need to change the number. Pre-requisite changes should apply to future enrolments only. o Enter student results for subjects. They should be able to select a subject and enter results for all the students enrolled in that subject, who should be identified by student number and name. Note: You should not store the student’s name in a database or file – use the webservices instead (will be provided). o Once results have been entered for a student they should be ‘unenrolled’ in the subject. o Results are a percentage mark between 0 and 100. Students ? The user interface for students should be web based. ? Students should be authenticated with student number and password. ? Once logged in, students can: o Enrol in subjects. ? The maximum number of subjects a student can be enrolled in at any one time is 4. ? Some subjects have pre-requisites. Students should not be allowed to enrol in these subjects without having passed (ie. achieved a mark 50% or greater) the pre-requisite subjects. ? Students should not be allowed to enrol in a subject they have already passed. ? Students should not have to manually enter a subject number to enrol in it. o View results for all subjects they have completed. Additional Requirements ? Important: A web service will be provided for you which the program should use to identify a student by name, given their student number. ? The system should use SQL Server or MS Access to store user details, subjects, results, etc. ? Use a modular/tiered approach to design; ? If using SQL Server, the system should be easily configured to access a SQL Server database running on any machine (not just localhost). Webservice details - Will Be provided |
