Project Description:
I'd like a program that can do the following in the described situation. 1. Consider 2 wireless laptops at a fixed distance away from each other placed at a random spot in an area of limited dimensions (say have the size of a football field). 2. The 2 fixed laptops will be releasing packets. 3. A third laptop (being held by someone) is to move through the location ( half football field) searching for the packets being released my the 2 fixed laptops. 4. This moving laptop is to have a program( which I hope you can create) that will give it commands (forward, backward, left, right) to move closest and position itself where it will receive maximum signal strength from both fixed laptops. 5. The searching laptop can detect the fixed laptops using their mac addresses.....I believe Newly added descriptions: BELOW IS A REVISED ABSTRACT OF THE PROJECT. IT SHOULD HAVE MORE DETAIL. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE STILL CAPABLE OF COMPLETING THE TASK AT THE END OF THE DOCUMENT. ID ALSO LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU COULD CREATE A SIDESHOW BREAKING DOWN THE MECHANICS OF HOW THE SOFTWARE AND OTHER COMPONENTS WILL WORK. THANKS ABSTRACT: ĦĦĦĦOur project initially dealt with the development of a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) using Surveyor SRV-1 mobile robots with wireless routers and mobile wireless devices. Control software was to be written to maneuver the mobile routers to create, maintain and improve radio communication between all the devices in the MANET. ĦĦĦĦDue to the complexity of written the control software for the mobile robots and other factors such as the wireless devices being mobile themselves, our project had to be adjusted to meet our ability to arrive at our deliverables. Even after developing the control software, there existed the problem of actually getting it running on the Surveyor Robots. Because of this we decided to replace the mobile robots with wireless laptops with which we could develop the software on them and run it from there as well. The control software will essential do the same, as it would for the mobile robots but in a simpler fashion. The software would have an interface that would direct the individual possessing it on where to move to locate the packets being set out by the wireless devices. Once located it would create a network with the wireless device and maintain radio commutation with them. Another key change to the project is that the wireless devices will be stationary. Their mobility added to the complexity of the control software we werent able to overcome. With this change, well have two stationary wireless devices sending out packets and have a mobile laptop searching for them to establish a network with all devices involved. Once this is achieved we will then add more mobile laptops with the same ability as the initially mobile laptop to search for the network and join it. These added mobile laptops will aid in the improvement and extension of the ad hoc network. In a NLOS environment radio transmission across a path can be obstructed and an established network can weaken or become completely disabled. The control software on the wireless laptops will enable the user to move and catch the signals sent out by the stationary wireless devices, and then position themselves to establish a network were communication will be most efficient. Essentially, the project involves four major tasks: 1.ĦĦĦĦDevelop control software to mobilize a user with a wireless laptop to determine the signal range of two stationary wireless devices. 2.ĦĦĦĦLocate the maximum signal point between the two stationary wireless devices. 3.ĦĦĦĦCreate an ad hoc network with the wireless devices. 4.ĦĦĦĦMobilize other wireless laptops with the control software to join the ad hoc network, improve and extend it. |
