The website is to be designed to allow web users to: ??rimarily communicate with other user by the creation entries ??orum based ??btain and locate local businesses (searchable by business type, area, postcode and radius) ??ook up a glossary (admin defined and manageable) ??ee user and admin polls ??atest site news ??earch for the most common discussed topic / keyword ??earch for and down load template letters (admin defined and manageable) At the heart of the website will be a forum based script. It needs to be fully configurable and customisable by the admin / site owner. A secondary objective of the website is to build and create a Brand which represents trust and quality, therefore the site needs to be fast, inviting, having a friendly professional look but a business like feel. The domain names have been acquired, but no hosting has been sourced yet, assistance in needed on identifying the best host for the site. All users who visit the site Are greeted with the logo (to be designed), date and time, a scrolling (Admin) configurable ticker, introduction text, background graphics / sponsors logo?? (to be determined). Graphics and intro text should be easily configurable to the admin. Users of the website will have 2 main options, 1) to read only information, and 2) to write new information. Read only users Mandatory ??he user would visit the website and have the ability to: o Read the top stories / entries o Search (and read) topics by: ?? Keyword ??rganisation name ??ervice ??ate ??ost commonly discussed This will display all of the entries. o The user should have the ability to view an admin defined Glossary of terms. o Read only users will have the ability to read all but restricted entries. Nice to have o The user will have the ability to locate firms by searching by business type, radius and the post code or town. ??he search will present all of the firms within a user defined radius, and display a map. ??irm?? details will be stored in an admin managed database. Write users Mandatory ??he user would have the ability to add entries. o To create an entry, the user will have to create an account (first time only) o Account creation will be simple and capture username (mandatory), password (mandatory), profile picture (optional ??peg, bmp), email address (mandatory) and contact details (optional), DOB (optional) and profession (mandatory) etc. o After the user account has been created, to add an entry the user will have to log on by entering the username and password they created. o The user can now add a new entry, by creating a category (organisation name) if it?? not present. The entry will be input via a Tiny MCE interface, or something that will allow the user to attach photographs (jpg, bmp) and audio files (mpg, mp3, wav) to their entry. o The user can read an existing entry (from any user) and add comments / feedback. This project is for an individual with a small budget, I was thinking in the lines of a maximum of US $350 - 400. Although the requirements seem long, this is similar the manipulation of a forum such as VBulletin or Jolma. |
