Profile Description | Web Data Corporation is a California corporation formed in 1998 to focus on developing web-based business applications for the internet and intranets. The company moved to Tucson in the fall of 2002 In addition to the its principal, Gordon Bennett, the company has four senior U.S. consultants (one in San Diego, one in Tucson, one in Houston, and one in Salt Lake City) who are engaged when needed for integration and automating complex data processing tasks, and for project management support. The company has a majority shareholding in a Lithuanian Corporation (UAB Web Data) whose office in Vilnius has a fulltime staff of four developers, plus an HTML designer and a graphics designer. It also has a group of six developers in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, who have been trained in the company?? technologies. The company is seeking a small group of independent developers in China. The company was intentionally created as a virtual company in order to limit unnecessary overhead costs. The staff communicates through web-based tools such as Microsoft Portrait (voice and video), Skype (voice), NetMeeting (voice, video and whiteboard), Microsoft Live Meeting (desktop sharing, application sharing), Glance (desktop sharing), and through MSN chat and email. Developers are assigned to projects and tasks and record their times through a web-based, real-time, time-tracking application that provides detailed invoicing and allows clients to view their project?? progress online. The most significant difference between Web Data Corporation and all other development companies (as far as we have been able to determine), is its unique client-side approach to data management in the browser. The company has refined this technology since 1998, and it is now based upon current .NET, XML and XSLT standards; therefore it is not proprietary technology, but simply a more sophisticated approach to browser-based data management, which provides for superior user interfaces and usability. During the latter part of 2005, this architecture and technology was adopted by Microsoft, Google, Macromedia, etc., and is now branded and AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML). The company has designed some innovative, re-usable database structures that are hybrids between relational and hierarchical databases which can scale to any dimension and associates any number of entities in any number of relationships with altering the underlying structure of the design. This enables applications to grow in scale as well as complexity without any changes to the existing data structures. These database elements, combined with the many re-usable client-side data management objects and modules the company has developed provide significant time and money savings during application development, and allow the development of exceptionally functional user-interfaces. Since 1998, Web data Corporation has built the following types of applications: ??Medical Transcriptions (with voice recognition) ??Case Management (Medical and Community Education) ??Real Estate Searches for Appraisers (VLDB ??Very Large Database over 150 million records) ??Public Safety (Fire, Fire Prevention, EMS) ??Training and Tests (classes, courses, attendance, tests & test results) ??Manufacturing (Multiple Product Lines) ??Sales & Contact Management ??Task Management (across the enterprise) ??Customer Relationship Management ??Content Management for Web Sites ??E-Commerce (various products) ??Time-tracking ??Live/online auctions ??Surplus Property Management ??Virtual University |
